Long before the rest of the world had a Son of Sam song, I had a slooow....bluesy one. This is the Plain Version. Onstage with the Band, it became A MONSTER! [I had hired Tim Pierce (Springsteen etc.)] for some EXPLOSIVE GUITAR! Very Teen Wolf ! The show topped the Night Danny Bonaduce Flipped-Out at the Starwood! 1979. ( I'll TRENCH "the real thing" up later....)
After orchestrating the Runaways, busy at work with Helen Reddy's Ear Candy, Kim still found time to hand pick a kid off the streets of Hollywood. The process of grooming began. New edgier look. New Kim titles/songs. But, I still needed a New Act. I got crazy and wrote a performance song called Son of Sam.
Note: written with Universal Studios security guard and roommate Mr. Bob Mastronardi. Bob chased around celebs like Robert Blake on the Studio Lot. "Gliding down the freeway, Rat race dreams aglow, moving like a lightening bolt. Got my shot gun on the floor..."
He made sure I worked the room with local celebs and his incrowd clan. I had my photo taken with Stevie Nicks, I spent some time with Lance Loud of the Mumps, jammed with Al Stewart and,,,of Queen, and sat down at the piano and wrote a song with Leon Russell.
Harvey Kubernik did all the promo. Beach Boys biographer David Leaf dropped by. Debbie Schow (and others) took massive photos. And Michelle Myer- Cheap Trick's Super-girl- took charge of personals...
I knew there's be spy's reporting back to The Kim. His psychic territorialism/control at work behind the scenes at all times.
Haunted by the moon now. I can feel it's deadly pull. Then I spot them on a side-street. And ooh...they look so cute. Holding one another. Telling one another lies. And then he presses her against him. And the wind begins to cry..."
